Why Pulpo? As an elite shortstop in the Mexican Baseball Major Leagues, Goitia was known for his web gem plays on the diamond. After seeing so many unbelievable plays, the the fans and media nicknamed Goitia Pulpo. Pulpo means octopus in Spanish. Goitia had such an uncanny ability to get to and reach batted balls they began to say, “He’s like an octopus!. It’s almost like he has 8 arms with 8 Gloves!
